By default, Cadasio captures the entire scene, including the background colour you see in the Designer. While this works well for many projects, there are times when a transparent background is much more useful, especially when designing layouts where a clean, overlay-friendly image is needed.
How to Enable Transparent Backgrounds Globally
Cadasio gives you the option to capture your images with a transparent background instead of a solid colour. Here’s how you can enable this feature across all your projects:
- Go to the Options menu.
- Navigate to the Miscellaneous section.
- Toggle on the option for ‘Transparent background for images’.
This is a global setting, meaning it will apply to all of your projects moving forward. Any new step images you capture will now automatically have a transparent background.
What About Existing Steps?
For steps that you’ve already created, their images won’t automatically update to transparent backgrounds. However, refreshing them is simple with the Steps Manager:
- Open the Steps Manager.
- Click ‘Update Thumbnails’.
By default, Cadasio only updates thumbnails for steps that are out of date (for example, if you’ve made changes using update or propagate operations). However, in this case, we want to ensure all images are refreshed to include a transparent background.
To do this:
- Untick the checkbox labelled ‘Only update out of date steps’.
- Then click OK.
Cadasio will now process all your steps, recapturing the images with the new transparent background setting.
Ready to Go
Once the process is complete, your updated images will be ready to use wherever you need them – from layout designs to exported images and PDFs, giving you more flexibility and a cleaner visual result.
